Poland Syndrome Treatment

Restoring symmetry, contour and confidence.

Poland syndrome is a congenital difference in which the chest muscle on one side is underdeveloped or absent, often with asymmetry of the breast, nipple or chest wall. With a reconstructive background in flap and breast surgery, Dr. Gamze Eren plans individualised correction to rebuild balanced, natural contours.

Understanding Poland syndrome

Poland syndrome is present from birth and varies widely. It most often involves absence or underdevelopment of the pectoralis major muscle on one side, and may include differences in breast and nipple size or position, the chest wall, and sometimes the hand. Each case is unique, so treatment is always individualised.

Dr. Eren begins with a careful assessment and, where helpful, 3D planning to map the asymmetry and define realistic, balanced goals with you.

Reconstructive options

Correction is tailored to your anatomy and goals, and may combine several techniques: anatomical or custom implants to rebuild volume and projection, fat grafting to refine contour and soften transitions, and, in selected cases, muscle flap reconstruction (such as a latissimus dorsi flap) to restore missing muscle bulk. For women, breast symmetry procedures may be combined to match the opposite side.

Treatment is often staged across more than one procedure to achieve the most natural, durable result.

Your pathway

Because Poland syndrome is highly individual, the first step is a thorough consultation to understand your anatomy, priorities and history. Dr. Eren will explain which techniques suit you, how many stages may be needed, and what recovery involves at each step.

The goal is lasting symmetry and a chest contour that feels natural and your own.

Common questions

Is this surgery suitable for both men and women?

Yes. The approach is tailored to each person, rebuilding chest contour and muscle bulk, with breast symmetry procedures added when appropriate.

Will I need more than one operation?

Often, yes. Staged treatment usually gives the most natural and stable result, and Dr. Eren will outline a clear plan at consultation.
